SUSTAINABLE UP-CYCLING

Fast fashion’s environmental toll is immense. It contributes roughly 10 % of global carbon emissions, heavily pollutes water and soil, and drives massive textile waste. About 92 million tons of clothing end up in landfills each year as millions of garments are produced and discarded in rapid cycles. According to recent industry reporting, around 85 % of clothes are discarded annually, often after being worn fewer than ten times, and only a small fraction of textiles are recycled into new garments. This linear “take.make.waste” model depletes resources like water and fossil fuels, generates microplastic pollution, and undermines efforts to reduce emissions and landfill burden.

Sustainable up-cycling offers a meaningful alternative by repurposing existing textiles into new, creative, and durable products, extending the useful life of materials that would otherwise contribute to waste. Upcycling reduces the demand for virgin resources, lowers the environmental footprint of fashion, and supports a more circular economy where garments are valued for longevity and transformation rather than single-use disposal. Scoops Color Lab maintains a commitment to sustainably up-cycling lightly used, high quality garments as part of the solution to fashion waste. Turning what would be trash into thoughtfully designed, high-value pieces that challenge the throwaway culture in fashion.

Sizing

Because many SCL pieces are up-cycled and sourced individually, sizing can vary from garment to garment. The listed size, general fit, and style notes will always be included in each item description so you know exactly what you’re getting. If you have any questions about fit or need specific measurements, don’t hesitate to reach out. I’m always happy to send them along.

All garments purchased new are offered in unisex sizing. SCL generally leans toward a roomy or oversized fit, and any specific fit notes (cropped, slim, oversized, etc.) will be clearly noted in the item description.

Currently, SCL carries sizes up to 5XL. If you don’t see the size you’re looking for, please reach out. Size inclusivity is a cornerstone value of Scoops Color Lab, and I’m more than happy to source garments.
